CNY part 2

I painstakingly got back from London. Freezing, blizzard-dy London =.=" The weather here is so totally screwed up. Just when I thought the weather is getting warmer they had to throw some snow in my face. No wonder all the Britons talk about is the weather. Because there's always something to complain about it. Stories on that later! I'm dying to post some photos!

Snowflakes all over the windshield...

When it first started to snow on Sunday 12pm...

After 10 hours of snow, we have SnowCars :)

As a continuation from where I last left off...

(I have this uncanny need to fulfill some imaginary obligation to report my CNY week to my parents, I think I have Permanent head Damage already. So bear with me please.)

I attended the Refresher's Fayre last week, along with pretty much everyone else I know. The phrase "FREE DOMINO'S PIZZAS" travels fast! Especially when we're talking about consistently hungry university students, and the cheapskate ones. *COUGH COUGH* Lunch of the day? FREE PIZZAs. Great. Saved me plenty of cooking, and washing time, gained multi-hundred calories along with that, what's not to like? =P

And hey, I'm Malaysian, it's genetic.

17's Smooth & matte in Nearly Nude

Another good idea that I heard from a friend, is to register for a new Boots Advantage Card, even if you already have one. You'll get another Boots Goody Bag! We're talking about Body Lotion, Shower Creme, Comb, Cosmetic pouch and Lipstick here. At least, that's what I found in mine. Normally, I don't wear Lipstick, but this 17 Smooth & Matte Nearly Nude shade is really, nude =) It gives this hint of colour without really being there. I super duper love it! Gonna find an excuse to take it out for a test run! Kelvin Cookie Monster also gave me the lipstick he got, hahaha!

Not that he needs lipstick at all, as he's born with naturally Amber-Chia-ish-lips!

Digressing a little, for someone who was on scholarship for his academic excellence, he mistaken a can of Korean tauge for Straw Mushrooms =.="

On Wednesday, I finally gave in to many of Herman's calls to attend the Mandarin Christian Fellowship. To be honest, I have sinned with my absence at the chapel since the semester ended. Paris, Hereford and Exams were in the way! To welcome a new group of exchange students from the China Ningbo campus, the "old" members, (that's us, yeah, OLD, pfft!) came up with some dishes to provide them with a sumptious dinner spread. There were rice, fried noodles, curry chicken, vegetables, dumplings, omelettes, apple crumble and custard. I, The-One-Who-Decided-to-go-at-the-Very-Last-Minute, managed to cough up a potato salad from my kitchen. Turned out that the potato salad was fairly popular as well, with 95% gone at the end of dinner. In return, I was drilled on my proficiency in Chinese. Despite studying the language for a total of 10 years, (eh, I took SPM Chinese and didn't fail ok), I still struggle to keep up with them. HELP! I'm being banana-fied!! The HORROR!!!

Wednesday happened to be my Lil' Bro's 13th birthday. I wished him already, but I'll do an honorary one here anyway. 'Coz that lil' smarty pants got straight A's for UPSR =D

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BRO! Be a good boy and please eat more and grow taller than me. If not I will disown you. Heh heh. Just kidding about the last part.

On Thursday there was a Steamboat session at St.Peter's Court, organized by YitLing, Rachel, Irene, PuiLing and the rest of the SPC talented chef gang! The. Tom. Yam. Was. Out. Of. This. World. Spiced the lights out of my tongue, I thought I will never be able to tasted the gorgeous aroma of salted fish again! BUT! The taste was beyond heavenly... *dreamy* Something like taking heroin and experiencing euphoria! Thank you GIRLS, the dinner was amazing! I'll be lazy and post Brian's blog instead if you're interested in the Mr.Charming himself and the pictures :P Wah see, Brian I'm promoting you =)

Yr 3 Sem 2 Wk 1 + CNY

I'm BACKKKK!!! Honestly I've been meaning to blog for the past few days, but then the post-exam-laziness got the better of me. I'm sorry I have zero willpower left, in fact, I'm in willpower debt because I have a determination overdraft from my brain bank over the exam period. My freshly laundered bedding is just too sexy for me to resist! How can a girl resist such seduction from the biggest temptress ever! My bed lah dodo!

Hopefully everyone has had, or even still having, a fantastic CNY celebration. If you have gained a few kilos from the yummy CNY goodie treats, or lost a lot in gambling Chor Dai Dee, or is dead bored because you have plenty of holidays with nothing to do, PLEASE don't complain to me. I don't want to know. Don't make me throw those hard, smelly brussel sprouts from the back of my fridge at you. I'm SERIOUSLY warning you ah!

No CNY mood. AT ALL. On the Reunion night, I joined a small gathering of Malaysian Chinese. There was so much veggie 菜 at that dinner I have this very good feeling I'm gonna gain some fortune 财 this year. However, we totally forgot to buy fish 鱼! How to 年年有余 like that! In the end we there was too much veggie anyway, so we did have major leftovers to symbolise the 余.

(年年有余 literally means "Every Year Got Leftovers". In other words, it implies that you have more than what you need. Just like your bank account, isn't it nice to have a balance instead of an overdraft? In this case, this proverb is referring to having ample clothes, food, money and all that. Get it?)

I know I have some banana readers. Heh heh. Just in case you're interested.

Despite being out there and all, I tried my best to practice all those CNY traditions and superstitions. The boys downloaded all the "Dong Qiang"s they can find and was blasting them all the way! Call it a desperate attempt to create "The Mood", but it made me feel better! No sweeping or cleaning on the First Day, no cursing (this was awfully hard, made me realise that I had quite a foul mouth), I was even a vegetarian for 24 hours to gather some good karma! And then, the School of Pharmacy just had to shower us in "Suay-ness" by making me turn up for a COMPULSORY ATTENDANCE lecture at 9AM in the QUEENS MEDICAL CENTRE. I pretty much spent my CNY morning in the hospital =.=" How pathetic is that? To make things worse, classes ran from 9am till 4pm T__T What for? To introduce us to deadly modules like...

Diseases and Goals of Treatment : 30 deadly credits!!! STRESS!!!
Toxicology : to remind us how toxic the module is
Professional Skills 3 - Law & Dispensing: where the passing mark is 60%
Sterile Production : another lab module *dread*

If you don't already know I have been unbelievably suay the past year. In fact, I even went through the effort of selecting my personal Top 4 for your amusement.

-Lost all my notes and books because of DHL
-Burnt my kitchen, and set off a fire alarm single handedly
-Missed my flight in Paris
-Lost my calculator

... and other little suay things. Is there someone cursing me? T__T

It's okay. I believe in karma. What goes around, will come back around to bite you in the arse, THREE-FOLD!

*To be continued*

Have a prosperous year ahead, full of Ox-xy vitality, Ox-like determination, and Ox-traordinary happiness! Eat and gamble wisely people.

The Stig Unmasked + Toilet

*UPDATE*

Just a quick note to brag about my latest effort. First thing I did after exams is to clean my toilet! I spent a good hour washing, scrubbing, disinfecting (yes I disinfected the whole thing, I AM THAT BIG OF A CLEAN FREAK) and finishing it off with some good ol' polishing!

What's the use of having a clean toilet and not bragging about it, heh heh. Sorry lah, you have to be my victim so that I can feel good. It's not like there will be anyone else who's gonna see or even use it you see. The result? A GLEAMING toilet that's so shiny and breathtakingly clean, you wouldn't even notice that BIG FAT STRESS ZIT glaring back at cha from my forehead.

"Is it THAT clean?" you ask.
I'm telling you I can't even smell my own shit after I officially used it in its new glorious state. All I get is a nose full of Clean-Disinfected-Toilet aroma. Ahhhhhhhh~~~

*END OF UPDATE*

Dear Top Gear Fans,

The Legendary Stig has been unmasked by the British Media.

**SPOILER**

CLICK ME ONLY IF YOU WANT TO FIND OUT!!!

Just like the rest, I agree that the show's less fun when you know who The Stig is. Not because the one behind the mask is the problem, but simply because the mystery is what makes it exciting after all.

I may not be one of the loyal fans that follow and collect every single episode out there, but I did have my fair share of episodes when I still had access to British TV. A good dose of English humour that one, there's no way for you to hate the show. Unless you own one of the cars that they criticized to no end, which happened to be their best talent yet.

Signing off to sleep and recuperate, Ling.

Sweet Obama

Well in case you didn't know, President Elect Barack Hussein Obama is now President Obama... or, or, or, let me do it Disney's "Cory's in the House" style,

The President of The United States of America
Heh heh heh.

One man. Big title. Grand day. World History. Hopes. Faith. Emotions. Determination. Responsibility. Justice. Equality. Reality.

Missed it because of something important?
I've done the work for you. Thank you, I know you love me.

Missed it because you dont care?
I'm gonna spoonfeed you anyway, because you HAVE to see it.

And partly because I'm a brand new fan of Obama's presidential aura! =) It is so great that it totally knocked out the Senator Ted Kennedy of Massachusetts, I think. No, that's not really it. Reports say that he was knocked out by a seizure, and will be discharged from the hospital overnight. It is also said that he has battled brain cancer in the not so distant past. He probably has Gliadel somewhere in there, heh heh.

Click me to watch the Full Video of the Inauguration Speech
I think it's a good piece of wisdom and maturity that everyone should be exposed to. Especially some. It's public speaking at its best, I say.

So far, I love only his presidential aura. We have seen that this man can promise, he knows what Americans need. But can he deliver? It's too soon to say he can. But hopes and prayers are with him, to help see him through this tough time.

I hope people remember that he is still a man in a new job. He needs time to pick things up, first to correct the mistakes of the past, before he can bring the nation forward. It must be scary to have millions of people have such high hopes for you.

Despite my doubts and realistic thoughts. I have a good feeling about this =)

p/s: First Lady Obama looked absolutely stunning in her dress for the Inauguration Balls! Look up videos of The First Couple's First Dance in various Inauguration Balls, if you'd like to see the President doing a booty bump!

4 year old McD cheeseburger

Have you seen a 4 year old McDonalds Cheeseburger?
Have you seen an obese person walking around with a cheeseburger claiming that she used to be obese?

Now you have.

Personally, I think it's kind of fake. Comparing oil-fried food with fresh ones, she really is an idiot. Salt and oil prevents microbacterial growth, duh. She may not have cling wrapped it, but she might have formaldehyde or chloroform hidden somewhere in her house.

Really, I think this lady's just looking for someone and something to blame for her previous (and probably current) obese state. To be honest, I think she was(is) fat because she lacked self restraint, cannot resist temptation and most obviously, is short on critical thinking. Oh, and did I mention only exercising her mouth but not the rest of her body.

It's the comments that I find really amusing :)

"MsMisfits (1 hour ago)
Hahahaha one of the last lines she said was funny. What the fuck is she doing at McDonalds at 10pm when theyre sweeping the floor?? Fucking oinker."

"KunalIsGreat (7 hours ago)
If the fry lasts longer, wouldn't the kid last longer?"

Hahahahahahaha... Last one's a good one.

A miracle

I asked for a MIRACLE that night.

Because I needed one for Molecular Pharmacology. It's not that I didn't study, because by the look of my face I have been dating pharmacy notes for too long a time. I bet I can audition for a Witch role now effortlessly. That girl in the mirror keeps frightening me in the wee hours of the morning, I want to destroy all reflective surfaces. It's definitely not that I'm stupid, I do comprehend these terrifying sounding jargons. I really do. But when I looked at those Past Year Questions, I thought...

"Die."

What do they want me to write? I'm supposed to churn out 25 marks worth of an answer with only 2 or 3 lines of question guiding me. I feel more lost than Little Red Riding Hood in the forest.

Ahh, but THERE WAS A MIRACLE.

Out of the blue, all the students in the venue were given an extra 15 minutes to complete their papers. The less fortunate side of the story was that a fellow classmate had an epilepsy episode midway through the papers. It was a miracle at his expense. But then again, I guess the paper was too much for him to handle too. Hmmm... The entire Year 3 MPharm students have him to thank for 15 minutes worth of marks, and bladder retention, and buttocks deflation.

My First Thoughts:
"Brilliant! More time for more crap to make my examiner miserable. That's for setting stupid questions like these! "

5 seconds later:
"Maybe the extension wasn't such a great idea. My bladder is bursting with 3 hours accumulation of rejected ammonia. "

Would everyone get 30 minutes of extension if a fellow student had an exploding bladder? I wonder. I'd pay someone who was failing anyway to be our scapegoat. Hey, everyone would pay him. We were so desperate the night before, I remember contemplating whether or not giving our lecturer a blowjob would be worth it for a PASS.

Just kidding you guys. Chill.

Enough of that, have you heard that DIANA VICKERS OF X-FACTOR 2008 FAME will be performing at ISIS NOTTINGHAM ON 24TH JANUARY!!!

WHICH IS 10 MINUTES WALK FROM UNIVERSITY!
OMG I CAN'T BELIEVE IT, I LOVE HER SO MUCH AND SHE IS COMING!
AND I FINISH EXAMS ON THE 23RD!
TICKETS INTO THE CLUB ONLY COSTS 5.80 POUNDS!
ONLY FOR OVER 18 AND I'M ALREADY A VERY RIPE OLD 20!
I'M SO EXCITED THAT I CAN'T STOP TYPING IN CAPS!
EVEN MORE SO TO ANNOY YOU!

Okay, enough of insanity. A few videos to keep you entertained. I swear I've been hounding YouTube for entertainment so much in the past month there not a video that you know and I haven't watched.

Diana Vickers performing

Simon Cowell gets OWNED by Old Lady Edna

Medicinal Chemistry getting the better of me now. I gotta pull myself together if I want to get through this one. I know for a fact that miracles are hard to come by, and even harder to wish for. After this, I would be able to at least, breathe finally do some chores. My room is such a pig sty at the moment. Don't come knock on my door.

p/s: The victim was hospitalised and later discharged on the same day. He's fine. And because of him, everyone's exam is in a better state than it should be. The fate of his half-completed examination remains unknown.

the battle begins

A few weeks ago, I was running from crazy French drivers on the streets on Paris. Tomorrow, I'm gonna go head to head with a few sheets of paper that threatens to kill my future.

Yes, my fellow compatriots. The battle begins, TOMORROW!!!
(At least, for me. Some lucky engineers get to start the day after, hmph!)

Since the semester ended, not a day has gone by without a minimal extent of nerding. Frankly, I don't think all that nerding did anything to help me pass my papers. Nothing seems to stick in my head at all. Guess my results will have to surrender to a higher power then.

Nerding 24/7 is stupid. There is no way, that I can sit down and nerd continuously for more than 2 hours. I gotta get up and do something, somehow. Shit, eat, bathe, sleep, anything! Most of all, I've been YouTube-ing.

For those on the brink of insanity, take a break, have a kitkat and do anyone of the activities below to rest your mind.

-Eat a banana/chocolate: quick healthy carbs for your brain to burn, and keeps you happy.
-Watch a YouTube video: I suggest LeeHom, Panacea81 make up, X-Factor Live Shows.
-Blog a useless and pointless entry: You're reading one now.
-Bathe: refresh and relax your body and mind. Warm water feels good anyway.
-Vacuum your room: because you know you haven't done it in awhile.
-Do stretch exercises: How long have you been slouching over your desk now?
-Read my blog: because my blog, no matter how boring, requires less mental energy than your notes. And you will feel better about yourself after knowing that I'm in a worse off position than you are.

Okay, now what are you still doing here? Your 5 minutes worth are up! Go back to your books!

To those on holiday or not having exams, don't rub it in. This time of the year, I bite. You've been warned.

Exams last till 23rd January to end just before Chinese New Year! Wee...! Can't wait to get started on my Post-Exams To-Do List! Wish me luck!

Lilian's 25th Birthday

Oh Li Lian!

You're my fellow Orange lover.
My fellow roommate/housemate for 2 whole years.

My pillar of support throughout my UNiM days, and even now.

Oh how I miss those days when we "同居-ed" together.

Only you...

Will pick out onions so delicately from your plate.
Loop Tanya Chua and Stefanie Sun a gazillion times and still love it.

Will organize your stuff more orderly than mine.
Can dymo label every single thing you can get your hands on.
Can pimp your laptop to be both Windows and Mac, inside AND outside.

Look damn "yeng" holding a vacuum cleaner, reaching into the corners of the ceiling.

Happy 25th Birthday!!!

*confetti falling everywhere*
(see I remember your favourite colour)

Today Li Lian turned a quarter of a century old. Heh heh.

With every cell of my heart, I wish you

Earn big money this coming CNY and at work as well.
Success and accomplishments in your new career.

Plenty of joy, and beautiful surprises.

More almost-free cameras =P
Health, Fitness and that you achieve your dream weight.

Blessings for your family, especially your mom.

Have a good one my darling. I love you. MUAX.

With Love From, Ling.

Hereford and OWLs

This is an outdated entry on my trip BACK to beautiful Hereford.
It happened sometime before Christmas.

A land, where the the grass is greener,
A land, where the people are jollier,

This jolly ol' bus driver drove me to work every day in summer.
And he still remembers me!!! *love love*
We had a long long long long chat on the bus, catching up with each other.
Normally, he would wear a buttoned shirt with a tie while driving the Big Blue.
For the occasion, he's dressed up as Santa, and every passenger gets a candy from his sack of joy. I got 2! But don't tell anyone =P

Feels great to come back to a this place. The people here are seriously, insanely LOVELY. I never felt a moments boredom at the bus stop. Because the locals will always chat me up. There is no such thing as discrimination here.

You gotta admit. His face is so funny! Like kena tumbuk. Haha.
If you don't look carefully, you'd think he's like a floating tree stump!
This freaky looking fella has incredibly soft feathers, and actually just a very slender body underneath the fluff. It stares at you while you stroke it.

This is an Owl we met at a mini petting zoo, called...

Small Breeds Farm Park & Owl Centre
"Houses the finest display of owls in the UK." it claims.

"set in an idyllic rural environmen overlooking Bradnor Hill and Hergest Ridge"
Really, people should consider visiting this gorgeous place.
Forget Manchester, or Newcastle, or London.
Everyone's been there and done that. Boring.
It's time to Cuti-Cuti England. Because anywhere further is too expensive.
Damn you Paris, I have yet to get over you making me spend so much.

Another Owl.

Midget Owl, barely taller than my palm.

Flirty Owl, knows a Leng Lui when it sees one XD

Bossy Owl, haha, why am I simply characterizing the birds.
I am so mean.

Other amazing flying creatures on display.

Did I mention that ALL the animals here are super friendly!

So "teh". Reminds me of some girls =P

Big Fluffy Chicken!

Don't ask me how it managed to get his head out, but he did =P

A rushed entry with minimal effort, brought to you by the one who's cramming for her exams.
The Ling.

p/s: I found blood in my mucus last night, but I don't feel any pain. Hohoho...
p/p/s: I saw Harry Potter's Snowy White Owl, but my battery died so too bad for you.

Autumn 2008 Exams

Now that the celebrations are safely out of the way, everyone's diving headfirst, back into their revision materials.

I am scared. So scared. This is my nightmare:

13rd January Molecular Pharmacology
16th January Medicinal Chemistry
20th January Advanced Drug Delivery 1
23rd January Nutrition in Health & Disease

This time, I'm going to have to go through this alone. And I wonder how am I supposed to summon the strength I need to pull through this. I can't be strong, just because someone tells me to. It's insane.

A new environment.
That blasted English weather! Subzero temperatures, and sun-less days did nothing to keep me away from my warm bed. These gloomy days have only made my depression worse.

A new academic environment.
That thick French accent, pile loads of lecture material and taunting statistics of past years performances "scare the crap outta me", Achmed style. Lecturing styles are definitely worlds apart, although both campuses are in fact only half a day of traveling away. I don't know whether its my "Exam Cold Feet" again, or I really am clueless about everything and anything.

A new illness.
As I am typing this, I am also simultaneously wrapping more "mucus-filled wantons" to add to my ever piling collection in the bin. Yesterday I was feverish with a bad throat. Thank goodness it went away. I shall never step out when it's -4'C EVER AGAIN. Getting sick before exams. Just great huh.

More Pressure.
I'm in Year 3 now, meaning this year contributes a total of 40% to my final degree. Pressure much? Not to mention having secured a Boots Summer Placement at wonderful Oxford, means that I cannot bear to chance any resits, or I'll have to miss my placement. And this placement also happens to mean my job after graduation, upon successful completion of the programme.

Although I do know that I have, like, half a job offer already, and I don't need a First Class to get hired, I just can't help changing this positive situation into more and more pressure! I lost count of how many times I broke down over the past few days, for the right and wrong reasons. SIGH.

Gah, life sucks. Why am I in Pharmacy? Why am I not some super genius? Why did they invent exams? Why did he let me go through this all by myself?

I wanna go home! T__T

The New Year 2009 and My Resolutions

A load of "Mental Excretion"s + New Year Resolutions + My One True Love

Just when I have gotten used to writing 2008 on my dates, they decide to go change the year to make my life difficult again. Okay, that's not the scariest part of welcoming a New Year. It is the thought of going to have yet ANOTHER New Year, that makes me feel ancient. And I shall confess that I am terrified of growing up now. It took me 20 years to realize that time passes way too fast, and there's nothing you can do about it.

10 years ago on New Years Eve, I was looking forward for the dreaded Year End Holidays to end. So that my friends would come back from their hometowns and rejoin me in KL, in school.

10 years has past, and on THIS New Years Eve, I'm hoping that the clock will strike midnight, and stay there. So January 2009 will never come. Following that, my exams will never come XD That's wishful thinking for me.

How did I turn into this Age-phobic old lady? I don't know. Maybe it's because I'm 20, doing year 3 in Uni, graduating at 21 and going to work very very soon. I see the horizon of my student days, and it's not too far away *gulp*

Since the New Year is going to come and hit me on the head whether I like it or not, I might as well make the most of it. But I ain't planning to be sober when it comes.

New Year Resolutions

Reach my 45 kg target! And stay there!
(Weight as the permanent feature on my Resolutions List, why am I so hard to satisfy.)
Perhaps when I get frustrated, I should just swallow 3kg worth of food. Heh heh. 3 more kilos to put on. Shouldn't be too hard?

Be kinder to myself and my needs.
That means less self-restriction, and more self expression. I realized that I'm often being too hard on myself >.<>

The "Greater" Shopping List
-Acoustic Guitar
-Dior Addict Shine EDT
-Sony Ericsson XPERIA
-Cabin-sized trolley luggage
-Wang Lee Hom - Heart.Beat/ 王力宏 - 心.跳 (more about this below.)

Just some stuff I can live without, and really don't need. But want them really, really badly! As they are not necessities, I shall resort to put myself through a savings scheme. These are times when I hate being a female. Bah.

Take more photos, upload more photos, blog more.
Thanks to my dear PotaTeo's reminder, I shall be more diligent in uploading my pictures. I mean, my guy friends have more pictures than me on Facebook! HOW CAN?! Can't lose out to them *voluntarily succumbing to peer pressure* Actually, I realized I haven't been logging my life as much as I'd like to. The past 6 months of being in UK was in fact some of the more "happening" days of my life. And I'd like to laugh at these crazy Uni days 50 years from now.

Re-organizing priorities.
In short, Family, Friends and Studies come first. Others? Take a number and get in the queue.

Try not to fall down. AGAIN.
Can't blame the girl for trying too hard on this. I'm the most ungraceful thing you've ever seen.

Get my First Aid License
Yes, I'm working on it and I'm getting there. Despite my hectic schedule, I'm still determined to attend those night classes. Exams are in February, so wish me luck.

Alright, that's pretty much all I can think of right now. I could be making additions to the list all the way through before midnight in UK. To all my fellas....

Happy New Year 2009
Have a good 365 days, full of pleasant surprises =)

**********************end************************

Also, I'm delighted to make a new announcement. I, have found my one true love, and I'm proud to introduce him to you. He saved me from my heartaches, and he's been so supportive by being there for me these few days while I've been studying.

Wang Lee Hom 王力宏 - Heart Beat 心.跳 - 03 春雨里洗過的太陽

This is my favourite song of the album. His first single released for this album is a hit too!

Wang Lee Hom 王力宏 - Heart Beat 心.跳 - 02 心跳

Tell me, who wouldn't fall head over heels for him.
Kimi darling, I want you to know that I still love you, but you're on holiday. In the mean time, I shall have an affair with LeeHom =P

I know what I did last christmas

I know what I did last Christmas. And I've been on Santa's Naughty List! Oops... XD

24th December 2008: Christmas Eve

Got this baby for my 20th birthday. Downed it all in a night with an old friend.
In the end I turned into an oversized Drunken Lobster that chattered uncontrollably until I unknowingly fell asleep. Poor fella had to send me back to my room at 4 in the morning.
What a way to start the festive season =)

25th December 2008: Christmas Day

EeHow The One who Karate-ed the Turkey, Daniel The Celebrated Chef,
and Julyan The Hungry.
Daniel created a Culinary Masterpiece with this "Extra Large" turkey on his virgin attempt. Hats off to him. The turkey was "God-like" and it was the best I've tasted this season. This turkey did not die in vain. It died proud and tasty, in my very happy tummy =P
There's no better way for a turkey to die. Seriously.

Daniel took the dinner up a notch with his selection of red and white wines.
And there were also Guinness Draught, Tiramisu, Chocolates, Soft drinks, Potatoes, Stuffing Balls, Brussel Sprouts and Sausages to distract us from The Turkey.
This is Fine Dining at 51, Beeston Road for 12.

The drinks are not even opened yet and they are already drunk.
Swinging knives and bottles about.
Such dangerous people I'm mixing with, tsk tsk.

Simon (my lobster relative), Myself, EeHow, and ShinHau.
Where there is alcohol, there is a lobster in its presence.

After dinner we played Secret Santa, and Brian got my Dr.Who Bubble Bath.
Bath with it, and you'll have skin like Dr.Who's. LOL!
A bunch of twenty-somethings playing Secret Santa, sweat.
But to be honest it was really fun, because somehow we made the boys play the guitar and sing us some Christmasy tunes. Good times, good times =D

With all these booze and good food, I think I'm getting fatter for real this time!
Take a close look at me and tell me what you think.

Daniel, Daniel's guitar, Daniel's Room, and Myself.
Thank you so much. We had a great night. So next year's turkey on YOU again! =P

27th December 2008: Post-Boxing Day SALES

I shopped. Till I nearly dropped.
Shan't put any photos up because My Mom will kill me.

My God, did I miss Nasi Lemak.
We found the restaurant that the Nottingham Malaysian Society has been catering from.
Pretty Orchid is located at a hidden corner in the city centre, and serves Malaysian Food of course. Lunch goes for 5.50, for another 1.50 you can have an appetizer to go with it.

At the end of the day I had 4 bags, and they include 3 tops and a new pair of shoes.
The total undiscounted price cost around 70, and I spent less than half of that ^^
Thanks to the Year End SALES + the new VAT reduction and Student Discounts!
The theme of my shopping day was Workwear, for my new job in Oxford next summer =)

Among them, is The Most Gorgeous Workwear I have ever tried on.
I sort of knew it was meant for me. It's a size 6. The only one left.
Unfortunately it was not on sale, and I had to think twice if I could afford it.

Thanks to some kind souls, it was my Christmas prezzie!

grounded

I've been absent, and with good reason. From the 15th till the 21st, I have been diligently eluding the confines of Broadgate Park, exercising my freedom, and spending the last remaining dimes I earned during summer.

Alas, all is spent. And then some more.

Paris was awesome. 12 Malaysians exploring Paris, camping at the Luton Airport, camping at the Charles de Gaulle Airport, pretending to be Japanese, doing all that for 5 days was refreshing, to say the least. No, I'm not going to go through the details of the trip, simply because many others will be doing that already. Because everyone went to Paris this Christmas, sigh... You can piece up all the stories from the hundreds of pictures on my Facebook.

In short, we visited the famous must-see landmarks in Paris...

The Notre Dame Cathedral

"Japanese" terrorists at The Eiffle Tower.

The Versailles Palace.

Spent 50 Euros on Disneyland Paris, but it was worth every penny.

Visiting the Musee du Louvre and met the famous Ms.Mona Lisa.

And the they 5 of us missed our flight and got stranded in Paris.
Damn you EasyJet. Won't fly with you again!

To put it simply, the lady at the check-in counter closed on us! Hello, the person in front of us still managed to check in. So we had to spent another 50-something Euros on a new flight ticket, another more pounds on a new bus ticket. Bah!

Basically, I'm beyond broke now.
No, Boxing Day shopping for me! T___T
My Christmas Wish List shall have to wait then...

X-Factor 2008

All Hail the New Queen of X-Factor... Alexandra Burke.

To be honest, it wasn't a surprise to me. From the moment I saw her at the auditions, I just knew she would make it to the final at least. Sweet, pretty, humble and all that. Boring, typical, personality. Right, the type that paparazzi loves to hate.

Not loving her cover song though. Boring. For her ultimate vocal prowess, check out her version / duet with La Diva Beyonce --- Listen.

Also, allow me to introduce my favourite contestant, who just got eliminated from semi-finals. Diana Vickers! This quirky little girl looks absolutely stunning on stage, sounds even more amazing on the speakers.

Check out all the other videos on YouTube!

That's one last post from me. Wondering why?

"I'm going to Paris tomorr-wow!!! No, actually, in a few hours"

*Cute Pose 1*

*Cute Pose 2*

*Smile*

Sounds familiar? This ought to refresh your memory...

Am I the only one who noticed that eyebrow twitch that's so annoying? Michael thinks she's pretty =P But all I see is plastic surgery, lol.

Oh, oh, and check out XiaXue's parody of it as well! ROFLMAO...

Hats off to XiaXue for over-doing it. I almost feel like doing it myself. Depends on my mood, lol.

Aiya, I know there's like too many YouTube videos in one post. I almost fell asleep many more times while studying these few nights. Sigh. One 2 minute YouTube video for 15 minutes worth of alertness. A small price to pay?

*grab my bag and run off to Paris*

What to bring to Paris

This is a general announcement.

To be honest I don't know why I'm announcing this to everybody. Probably don't want to lose out to some people, lol. I hear people going to Italy, Spain, Portugal, Germany ever so often it's starting to bug me that the only place I seem to be going is the toilet.

But anyway....

I'm going to Paris!!! *Play La Vie En Rose*

Think The Eiffle Tower, The Louvre Museum, Champs Elysee, Louis Vuitton, Mimes, Sidewalk cafes, and Dali-esque street caricaturists!

I'll be leaving Nottingham by bus on Sunday evening to Luton Airport, followed by a sleepover at the airport! Might as well make it a full scale pyjama party huh? For all you know we might make it onto YouTube and be famous celebrities ever after! Lol, wishful thinking! Yeah we will leave the UK in the morning, and land in beautiful Paris shortly after! Am I excited or am I too excited?! *Girly scream*

My Packing List is as follows, for my tripmates reference and convenience:

Passports + bus and flight tickets
Time to dig out your passports, blow off the thick layer of dust on its surface, and get another stained page on your book! You know we can't go anywhere without any of these. Can everyone triple check with everyone before departure for safety! We don't want anyone of us making The Star headlines: Malaysian detained at Paris Airport!

Toothbrush + Toothpaste
You'll be amazed to know that I forget this on 50% of my trips, it's on the top of my list now.
One room can probably bring 1 tube of toothpaste and share among yourselves.

Travel sized Shampoo + Shower Creme + Facial Cleanser
Ahah! A perfect chance to indulge in some of the luxurious toiletries I got for my birthday...
Again, this can be shared to save luggage space. What's the worst that can happen?
Okay, maybe it'll be scary if all the boys smell like Simon. You know he tends to attracts gay attention for some weird reason. Let's hope its not because of his smell.

Bodycare: Lipbalm, Body Lotion, Face Moisturiser, Hair wax/gel (guys) etc.
Hey we're gonna take plenty of pictures, can't blame a girl for wanting to look pretty =D

Towel & Hairdryer
You boys, please remember to bring your own towel. I'm definitely not sharing! Girls, can we work out something with the hair dryer?

Underwear
Disposable underwears can be considered if you think underwears are a waste of luggage space. Anyway 5 day old underwears should be skunk smelly! Just throw 'em away! No sharing amongst yourselves for this one. If you are, I don't want to know. Ewww...

Clothes & Socks
Please bring enough. It's winter there anyway so I doubt that we're actually gonna sweat. Perhaps clothes can be reworn over and over again.

Glasses, Contact Lenses and Saline
Only applies to contact lens users. Looking for someone to bring one bottle of saline because I don't have a travel sized one!

Handphones, Cameras WITH Memory cards AND Chargers
Please, please and a gazillion please bring them with you! The iPhone-ers can share chargers no problem! How many Sony Ericsson users are there? Can we work out a compromise? Contact me!

Cash and Credit Cards
As previously discussed, please have about 300 pounds worth of Euros on standby. Solo debit cards (means NatWest Step Account users) are not accepted in France. Just in case, please bring your credit cards along as well.

Miscellanous : Swiss Army Knife, Fork and Spoons, Tissues, Water bottle.
These are optional but good to have! If you 've got some extra space to spare in your bags.

Emergencies:
Antiseptic Cream, Pain killers, Band-Aids, Antihistamines, Sanitary Pads, Tissues, Condoms (guys)
I've learnt that accidents always happen when you don't want them to. Maybe one of us are allergic to foie gras, truffles, or escargot! Antihistamines are a must bring so no one goes into an anaphylactic shock! There's always someone who's allergic to this, or allergic to that. Guys, I heard French women are hot, know what to bring. Heh heh.

READ THIS: French for Travelers
Since our lot seemed to have more interest in German than French, we'll just have to pick up some basic French overnight. A little bit only la, NO EXCUSE, MUST READ! I've done the work by looking it up for you. Click here. For pick up lines, DIY ok. I'm not a Non-Profit Charitable Organization. And no, just Je t'aime is not enough. French women can't speak English, but they are not stupid hor. Hehehehe, just kidding! =)

And last but not least, Books/Notes for Revision!
Don't hentam me for saying this ok. Don't say I didn't remind you that exams are in January!

Right, now did I miss anything out? Hope everything fits in one handcarrier :S

200th post blog-o-versary

It's a bird...
It's a plane...

It's Ling-O-Logy's 200th post blog-o-versary...!!!
*throwing confetti everywhere*

Today has been good. By "good", I nearly always mean " productive". I woke up bright and early at 8am, and slowly made myself some decent breakfast! Semi-naked. Muahahaha. We had good sun on this lovely Tuesday morning, so I got rid of the curtains and let me poor pale skin absorb some rays. To say the least, I have been very sun deprived to the extent to evolving into a vampire like appearance. Just in case you're wondering I don't live on the ground floor, and I was alone at that time. Only some birds saw me making breakfast like Britney in Womanizer.

Following that I hopped into the shower for a long and hot one, then lovingly blow dried my hair. I picked out something nice from my closet, and grabbed some chocolate on my way out. Chocolate courtesy of a cutie, and that saved me from 2-decades-of-life-crisis =) With that I just know it's going to be a good day. Got out in the lovely cloudless weather, and managed to get plenty of my errands done, stopping just to get myself another chocolate bar to keep my mood going. Can I say I'm developing an addiction to chocolate as does people to coffee now? I need a cup of hot chocolate every morning now just to get myself going! I have sold my soul to Chocolates.

As something special for this special post on this special day... I'm gonna post some crumbs of my life. In other words, stuff I wanted to blog about, but am too lazy to do it because of assignments/ dinners/ head-hunted/ shopping/ burnt my kitchen/ period pain/ headache/ hangover and a gazillion of other excuses.

EeHow's legendary 21st birthday at Hooters.

Turning 20

THANK YOU!!!

To everyone, for the wishes, the cake and presents, and for being part of my 2 decades worth of life!

I love you all so much! Thank you for letting me turn 20. You guys had 20 years to kill me, but you didn't, which is really, really sweet. I want to thank my mom and dad for giving birth to me, my siblings whom I always bully, my teachers for having mercy when I forgot my homework, bla bla, so on, so on... Cheh, like the speech after receiving an Oscar award =P

Wow. The Big TWO-O! I'm so freaking old now T__T Needs getting used to really. Like yesterday, I went to Pitcher & Piano, which is a bar.

The Bouncer was like, how old are you?
I'm like, ninet.... No wait, I'm TWENTY!!! *huge kiddy grin*

Muahahaha, first moment of actually feeling happy to say I'm 20. By the way, not that I don't appreciate the wishes, but I'm actually 2o this year, rather than 21. I have no idea why there are quite a number of my friends out there making that mistake. Hmmm... Don't tell me I look THAT OLD! Okay maybe I do, considering I did receive a bottle of anti-wrinkle cream just recently.

Forget the "What I've done/achieve on my way to turning 20". Boring.

I'm gonna make a list of "What I want to do now that I'm 20"!!!

- Insist that I'm really 18 instead of 20, when prompted.
- Start making people call me Jie Jie, for a change.
- Get drunk, like really drunk. Puke. Hangover. The whole package.
- Earn more money, spend more money $$$
- Fill some pages on my crisp new passport. The cleanliness of the pages is starting to bug me.
- Give up trying to grow taller. Undivided focus on getting fatter from now.

And this is how I look like when I am 20.

That's All Folks!
*Play: Looney Toons tune*

Weather

Right now, it's all about the weather. Uh huh. You ask about the weather, you wear according to the weather, you go out in the weather, and of course you wonder "weather" it will rain/snow today. *hoho, pun-puns =)*

Some purple scribbles for my own amusement!
This is what I live with everyday. Today I lived with 0'C in the morning, and 2'C in the afternoon as shown on the top right corner. Sub zero temperatures are becoming the norm here, I no longer think my fridge is cold anymore. Haha. These are times when you buy fresh milk, and leave them on the windowsill to keep chilled.

Those who missed the little snowfall about a week ago, fret not! You will have your chance of seeing "heavy snow" on Thursday!! But beware, the wind will be excruciating at 23 mph. Time to wrap up like a kebab people!

To my parents who's been wondering why I've been whining all about the weather ALL THE TIME, now you know why. Sob sob. I want my mummy... And I want to be able to wear my skirts again!!!

But then while I was out last weekend, I saw several (means quite a lot) british girls walking around in short skirts, WITHOUT stockings or leggings. Just bare, shaved, legs. Not to mention a number of them still strutting down the street, with half their breasts hanging out, just enough to warm the blood of passing men. Hahaha, how convenient and considerate indeed. I wonder if that would count as a good deed? An easy way out of Santa's naughty list perhaps? Lol...

Anyway, everything is Christmas-fied, and the atmosphere in Nottingham is nothing less than Christmasy! I LOVE THIS HOLIDAY!!! And I miss that Christmas Tree at home. Sigh... I don't get to put the star on it this year.
